N2: Children’s Journey

<< Back

The first week has been an exciting week with the children, a lot of adjustment needed to be done with us teachers and together with the children. As a starter, the children were encouraged to recognize their own letter names through tracing and calling attendances. We are getting them into a class routine and some rules of the class.

In Language for this week, the children were reviewing phonemical and phonological awareness of letter 's'. They were able to tell the spider, sun, strawberry, and snake. Through this, the children made spider crafts, and letter 's' formation through playdough and worksheet. Children also made strawberry sandwiches and fruit satay.

In Math, the children were introduced to days of the week, months of the year, and also the weather of today. We reviewed the reinforcement of shapes such as squares, rectangles, circles, and triangles. We made a strawberry sandwich and fruit satay this week in order to tackle the language and math of this week.

Other than Language and Math, we did science and also visual art this week. The science is about 'My Self' so we asked the children to lay down on the Manila paper and their friends will help them to trace their whole body, this science project/experiment will be continued along the following week. Because they will draw their hairs, their eyes, nose, and mouth with the loose parts materials.

As for Visual art, the children are learning about primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) and also the elements of art such as line, shape, space, value, form, texture, and color. This week we learnt from Kandinsky. The Russian painter which famous piece called "Color Study. Squares with Concentric Circles, 1913".

All in all, this week has been a great enjoyable week for everyone and we are looking forward to the upcoming week.
