A Teacher talks about how professional development for teachers benefits students.

Teachers’ professional development always takes top priority in ISMILE.To begin the new academic year, 4 days of training were conducted from July 16 to 19, 2018 – attended by 82 teachers from ISMILE, ISHINE, ISMILE Alam Atelier, and Oakwood Academy.

Some important topics such as the educational framework of the ISMILE Family of Schools, our curriculum, the different level-benchmarks, teaching methods and strategies, and classroom management were covered during the training.

Continuous professional development happens throughout the year in ISMILE. It is planned as monthly training given internally, dealing with various topics that help teachers improve in their craft as nurturers of young minds. ISMILE also goes the extra mile by collaborating with industry pioneers to ensure that growth of adult life long learners continues. In this connection, another training in the near future will be conducted in ISMILE Alam Atelier, Bali during the term break, with Ms.Gillian McAuliffe from Boldpark Australia as the main speaker.

By investing in effective training, we believe teachers will be able to help the students to achieve:

  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Collaboration and leadership
  • Agility and adaptability
  • Initiative and entrepreneurialism
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Successful accessing and analyzing of information
  • Curiosity and imagination

Professional development is animportant way for teachers to refresh and deepen their knowledge of their own subjects and learn new ways to help students learn. In the end, when teachers enjoy professional development and growth, students will surely reap the benefits.
